A first professional cleaning follows a fixed path: you book online at a flat price, get a confirmation, the crew arrives in your window, does a walkthrough, works a written room-by-room checklist and you receive photo proof of key rooms after. If a checklist item is missed, tell us within 24 hours with photos and we return to re-clean it. Here is the whole visit, start to finish.
Book your first cleanBooking your first professional clean comes with real questions. Who shows up, and when? Do you need to clean before the cleaners? What happens if something is missed? This post walks through a first Wasatch Cleaners visit from booking to follow-up, so there are no surprises, and covers what to do before and after to get the most from it.
Booking: flat price, add-ons, confirmation
Everything starts at our booking page. You enter your home size and get a flat price instantly, set before the visit and never by the hour. A standard clean for a 3-bedroom home starts at $289. During booking you can attach add-ons, such as inside the oven for $30, inside the fridge for $35, interior windows for $45 or laundry for $25 for two loads. You then get a confirmation with your date, arrival window and what is included, plus a reminder before the visit. If anything needs to change, reschedule ahead of time and the plan adjusts.
Before the visit: a short prep list
A small amount of prep makes the visit noticeably better. It takes about ten minutes:
- Pick up clothes, toys and papers so counters and floors are reachable
- Put away anything private, fragile or valuable that you would rather not have handled
- Jot down two or three priority areas and leave the note where the crew will see it
- Think through entry: a door code, a key or being home to let the crew in
- Secure pets in a room or crate they are comfortable in
What you do not need to do: pre-clean, buy supplies or clear out cabinets. Supplies and equipment are included, and the crew works from the written checklist whether or not the home is picked up.
Arrival and the walkthrough
The crew arrives within your scheduled window and starts with a quick walkthrough. This is where you point out priorities, fragile items and any add-ons you booked, and where the crew confirms what is in scope. It takes a few minutes and it matters: the walkthrough is how your preferences make it onto the checklist for this visit and the ones after it. Once it is done, the crew works room by room in a set order, top to bottom, so dust settles before floors are done.
The checklist and photo proof
Every visit follows the same written room-by-room checklist, the full version of which is on our cleaning checklist page. Kitchens and bathrooms get the most detailed attention: sinks, counters, appliance exteriors, toilets, tubs, showers and mirrors. Bedrooms and living areas get dusting, surface wiping, trash out and floors vacuumed and mopped. After the work is done, the crew photographs key rooms as proof of the result, so you can review the visit even when you were not home.
Utah note: Hard water in the Salt Lake Valley means first visits often spend extra time on bathrooms, where mineral scale builds on shower glass and fixtures. Canyon wind in spring and summer also drives dust through window sills and tracks, so those get extra attention on a first clean.
After the visit: review, re-clean, keep the baseline
You get a completion notification with your photo proof. Take a few minutes to look it over. If a checklist item was missed, tell us within 24 hours with photos and we return to re-clean it, that is the whole policy. Once the baseline is set, keeping it is easy: light daily habits like wiping counters and sweeping the entry stretch a professional clean a long way. If you prefer not to think about it at all, a recurring plan discounts every follow-up visit, and our post on deep cleaning vs regular cleaning explains how the first visit and follow-ups fit together. Wondering whether to be home? Our guide on being home when cleaners come covers the options.
Book your first cleaningQuestions people ask
Do I need to be home for the first cleaning?
No. Many clients provide a door code or key and review the photo proof afterward. If you are home, the walkthrough is a good chance to point out priorities in person. Either way works, and the checklist is the same.
What should I do before the cleaners arrive?
Pick up clothes, toys and papers so surfaces are reachable, put away anything private or fragile, and leave a short note with priorities. Skip the rest: no pre-cleaning and no supplies needed, the crew brings everything.
What if something is missed on the first clean?
Tell us within 24 hours with photos of the missed item. We compare it against the checklist and the crew's after-photos, and if a checklist item was missed we return to re-clean it. That applies to every visit, including the first.
How long does a first cleaning take?
It depends on home size, condition and add-ons, and the flat price already reflects your home, so there is no clock running. First visits often run longer than follow-ups because they set the baseline that later visits maintain.
